About Us

Mark DeGrove graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983, and has been practicing in Charlotte County since then. Dr. DeGrove is married to Debbie and has two children, Michael and Julie (Dr. Reece).  Mark enjoys soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, as well as internal medicine and dermatology. The DeGroves have owned many Border Collies over the years and have cats, birds, horses, and other pets. Community involvement includes Board of Directors of the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County, member and past director of Sunrise Kiwanis for over 25 years, and involvement with the Charlotte County Coastal Conservation Association as Board member, past president, and many other positions for over 20 years. The DeGroves also do a lot of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. When Dr. DeGrove is not in the office, he is probably fishing. DrDegrove 
   
Julie Reece graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, having completed her clinical year at the University of Missouri in 2009. She then proudly joined her father in practice at Peace River Veterinary Clinic in 2010. Julie is married to Matthew and they have a son named Owen, as well as their rescue dog Bowser. Julie enjoys surgery of all types, especially cystotomies and orthopedic surgeries. She has always had a passion for animals and has owned many different species of pets through the years. The Reece family enjoys many outdoor activities including anything on the water, as well as traveling abroad.  julie
   
Eleni Marx graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, having completed her clinical year at Auburn University. Eleni is originally from New Jersey, but migrated south with her husband, Brian, to be in warm and sunny Florida. Eleni enjoys dermatology, nutrition and internal medicine. She has loved animals her whole life, and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian when she got her first dog, Ellie.  Eleni enjoys spending her free time at the beach or doing outdoor activities.  editeddrs
   
 Cole Goracke graduated from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Dr. Goracke practiced for a year in North Port prior to joining the staff at Peace River Veterinary Clinic. Cole was raised in Punta Gorda and is a 2007 graduate of Charlotte High School. Dr. Goracke enjoys dermatology, ophthalmology and surgery. He and his wife, Amanda, have a jack russell named Gus and a yellow labrador retriever named Abby. Dr. Goracke enjoys fishing and the outdoors in his free time.  Dr. G
   
   

The doctors at Peace River Veterinary Clinic are members of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, the Charlotte Veterinary Medical Association, and the Charlotte County and Punta Gorda Chambers of Commerce. The doctors are continuously keeping their knowledge current with the very latest advancements in veterinary medicine by attending continuing education conferences, veterinary association meetings, reading veterinary journals, and conferring with colleagues and specialists.


   
Nicole Carter graduated from Charlotte High in 2011. Her mother has been a vet tech all her life, and Nicole has always enjoyed going to work with her. She is very excited to be pursuing her career in the veterinary field. Nicole has several different kinds of reptiles at home, as well as an older Jack Russell named Sparky. In her spare time she enjoys reading and doing any outdoor activities with her family.  0616160946a
   
Katharine Perkins moved to Florida from the UK in 2012 after completing her bachelors in Zoology. She has been in the veterinary field ever since and has enjoyed every moment of it. She has a special interest in behavior medicine. Katharine has two cats, Melo and Puff. In her spare time she enjoys reading and photography.  Kat
   
Kaylin Raycraft has lived in Florida her entire life and graduated from Charlotte High School after interning at Peace River Veterinary Clinic in 2012. She completed her A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology at St. Petersburg College. Her pets are a rottweiler and a bull mastiff. Kaylin is very happy to be working with the clients and their pets here as she has always wanted to work in the veterinary profession.  kaylin
   
Cheyenne Smith grew up in Punta Gorda and graduated from Charlotte High School as a certified Vet Assistant. During all four years of highschool, she participated in Future Farmers of America showing rabbits and pigs. She has always been apart of the veterinary world and will soon have her technician certificate. Cheyenne loves spending time with her beloved dog, Pettey.  Cheyenne
   
Jennifer Smith has lived in Florida for over 30 years and is married with two children who have been active in 4H club. She has many pets including a bloodhound, cats, guinea pigs, and a rabbit. Growing up on a dairy farm, she always knew she wanted to work in the veterinary field. She loves the challenges that each day brings and is proud of the fact that her daughter is now pursuing a career as a veterinary technician as well.  jenn
